BLANK.
white space for creativity

BLANK is an exhibition space inside the CATCH Marketing & Communication offices, in the heart of Rua do Salitre in Lisbon, dedicated to creative projects with a purpose. We choose an artist every quarter, that we believe has something different to offer in their work.

10% of the proceeds from events held in this space are donated to diversity and inclusion projects chosen by CATCH, on an annual basis.

Diversity and inclusion are two interconnected concepts—but they are far from interchangeable. Diversity is about representation or the make-up of an entity. Inclusion is about how well the contributions, presence and perspectives of different groups of people are valued and integrated into an environment.

Helping companies communicate diversity and inclusion is one of CATCH’s latest and most exciting challenges and we therefore value all projects that have the best D&I practices and objectives at heart, to support with Blank initiatives. If you are leading a D&I project and would like to be a beneficiary of BLANK events, please contact us at info@catchmc.pt.

How we choose artists to exhibit at BLANK

BLANK receives an artist, every quarter. The space is limited and therefore exhibitions are carefully curated to achieve maximum impact.

We invite artists that we believe have something different to offer in their work:

  • artists that do not have formal art education and this in itself is an opportunity for CATCH to promote diversity and inclusion
  • artists that offer visual representations of inclusion and diversity in their art
  • or simply magnificent artists that are amazingly talented and have something to show that has caught our eye.

Next exhibitions

  • Q4 2022 – 24th November 2022:
Opening. LIFE 3.0. Miguel Vilaça Carneiro.

Miguel Vilaça’s illustrations are sketched on an iPad, technology is his medium. The name LIFE 3.0 was chosen by the artist because the illustrations represent day-to-day situations – many of the characters do exist.  3.0 alludes to the web 3.0, which together with IoT, are philosophies for driving the next stages of digital transformation – the next BIG leap. See exhibition catalogue here. To order prints please contact mvcdesign@gmail.com.

  • Q1 2023 – 2nd March 2023:
Opening. Still Trespassing. Mary St. George.

Mary St. George’s latest work focuses on abandoned buildings mostly in the area where she lives.  She photographs and makes videos of them and from this point creates collages and mixed media artworks with multiple perspectives and interpretations.

They are architecturally inspired and through them, Mary creates layers, new venues, and imagined landscapes. For private viewings or orders, see Folha de sala Mary St George or contact: asgmsg@gmail.com

Special thanks to Pedro Pissarra for his support in the video montage for the exhibition.

Permanent exhibition

In between exhibitions, you will find our permanent collection displayed in the BLANK space; this is made up of five images from photographer Manuel Estriga.

Manuel Estriga was born on the 31st of December, 2001. He is a Portuguese amateur photographer who likes to capture some of the instances of his wanderings through the world. He values the use of 35 mm analog film because of the richness it brings to the process of making an image because, for him, photography is all about having time. Each frame needs to be thought about and pondered. And that takes time.
